We use high quality non toxic resin. Can tolerate temperature up to 120F. Typically the heat from hot tea or coffee mug will not damage the resin surface of the coaster, however hot dish from the oven can cause irreparable damage. Not dishwasher/microwave safe. Not recommended for outdoor use.
